Case 3: Operative Report PREOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Abnormal pregnancy POSTOPERATIVE DIAGNOSIS: Missed abortion OPERATION: Suction dilation and curettage INDICATIONS: A 24-year-old, gravida 1, para 0, who is approximately 8–9 weeks past her last menstrual period. She presented to the office with some right-sided pelvic pain and an abnormal rise in serum beta HCG. In addition, she had intermittent heavy and light vaginal bleeding. The patient was counseled that she had an abnormal pregnancy because of her symptoms and the abnormal rise in beta HCG. Considerations were a missed AB or an ectopic pregnancy. The plan is to perform a suction D&C to be sent for frozen section. If chorionic villa is present, missed AB is confirmed, and treatment is complete. If chorionic villa is not present, ectopic pregnancy is confirmed, and a laparoscopy will be performed. The patient gave an informed consent and we will proceed with suction D&C
