A strong thesis tells your reader exactly what you will argue and why it matters. Here is a simple process.
Step 1: Start with a question. Turn your assignment prompt into a question you can actually answer.
Step 2: Take a position. Your answer is your claim — it must be something a reasonable person could disagree with.
Step 3: Add your reasons. Preview the two or three main points that support your claim.
Step 4: Test it. Is it specific, arguable and provable in the length you have? If not, narrow it.
Example: “Remote work boosts productivity for knowledge workers when companies set clear goals, but harms collaboration when they do not.”
