Muhammad is in rehabilitation for a motorbike accident.Mariam is the support worker who will be visiting muhammad daily.He fractured two vertabrae and broke his left femur and left humerus,both fo which have been operated on.Muhammad suffered a severe knock to the head that has resulted in shorth term memory loss, disorientation and mood swing,which the doctors have told him should be temporary.he currently spend time in a wheel chair as it is to difficult to use crutches with his broken arm.Muhammad is impatient with his rehabilitation and insist he wants to go home to recuperate.he is discharge to his home with the multidisciplinary support plan that has the following goals: 1-support and encourage independence with activities of daily living(ADLs). 2-support and encourage independence with meal preparation,a good diet and frequent fluids. 3-support and encourage mobilisation with the physiotherapist’s instruction per daily exercises.4-observe for sign of infection and maintain good skin integrity.5-manage pain through pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical methods.mariam notices that muhammad has lost weight over the past week and is looking pale and lethargic.mariam has been preparing food for him daily and when she ask if he is hungry,he snaps angrily at her that none of the food you cook is halal’.mariam understand that muhammad’s mood is result of head injury.mariam weighs muhammad and his weight has dropped 10kg from before the accident.his body mas index {BMI} is 18,which suggests that he is underweight for his height and age.
